Lexie & Colin | A Hometown Fall Wedding
You could say I’ve been waiting for this day for YEARS! Seriously, Lexie and Colin started dating when he was a Sophomore in College and she was a Senior in High School. They would often hang out at my parents’ house when Colin was home for school. I would be in the kitchen with my mom (while everyone else was in the living room) and she would whisper he should marry her. We ALL fell in love with Lexie!
They tied the knot after 4 years of dating and 4 months of living together in Boulder, Colorado. Lexie and Colin’s wedding was in our hometown of Etters, PA. They got married at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, the same place where they had their first date!
We all knew Colin would propose soon, but I remember the day when my mom texting me saying guess what Colin and I did today. I knew right away they got the ring, and the proposal was right around the corner! I BEGGED Colin to let me take photos of the proposal, but he was firm that this moment was just for him and Lexie. So how did he propose? He took a cue from Lexie’s father and proposed on her family’s porch area.
Colin and Lexie are easy-going, fun, and an upbeat couple. Their wedding was a perfect, intimate celebration with their closest family and friends. The weather was gorgeous with some fall leaves filling in the trees. They got married on September 21st, 2019, which was a week after my parents’ 28th wedding anniversary. This year is also Lexie’s parents’ 25th wedding anniversary and her grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Their wedding day tied into each family legacy in so many ways!
Celebrations started early with mimosas, make-up and hair at Lexie’s parents’ house. The groomsmen got ready at our parent’s house. After everyone was ready, it was time for the first look. Colin and Lexie each wrote each other a note to read before their ceremony and they read them right before they turned around and saw each other for the first time. It set up the moment perfectly, and they were both tearing up.
After the First Look, it was time to get married! I have to say most people worry about having a first look but in my experience; it is almost more special because it gives the bride and groom time alone, that they don’t get on the rest of the wedding day.
As Lexie walked down the aisle, we ALL started crying. Colin cried for the second time that day seeing his almost wife walk towards him. They left the ceremony with a traditional car exit. We got group photos and bride and groom photos as the sun was going down. At the reception, Lexie’s sisters and Colin’s best man gave amazing speeches, making everyone cry (again)! They danced the night away with their best friends and family.
Colin and Lexie, may you have AMAZING adventures together in this next chapter of your lives. I am so beyond grateful to watch you two grow as a couple together and be able to capture your very special day. Here’s too many decades of love, fun, adventures, and happiness!!! Cheers!
